 Bob van der Boom, Ph.D., M.M.

 

Award-winning composer/producer Bob van der Boom is known in both the U.S.A. and Europe for his film, radio and television compositions, as well as for his work as a recording musician and conductor. He has worked extensively as a pianist, composer, conductor and producer in the U.S.A (ABC, NBC, CBS), France (Canal+), Italy (Rai UNO), Germany (WDR) and his home country, The Netherlands (VARA, NCRV, KRO, VPRO).

 

Dr. van der Boom’s highly successful concert series with the “Boom Radio Orchestra” was broadcast on European Television and featured the talents of extraordinary artists and musicians from around the world, affirming his versatility as a visionary musician and Musical Director/Conductor. His lush orchestrations vary from romantic, dramatic and glamorous to jazzy or funky. Dr. van der Boom’s award-winning ability to bring orchestras, bands or music artists to new heights in sound and performance has afforded him respect from the industry and his celebrated ensembles have toured throughout Europe, the U.S.A., the Far East and North Africa, appearing at the famous North Sea Jazz Festival and, the JVC Festival in the Netherlands and the Knokke Festival in Belgium.

 

An unprecedented two-time consecutive recipient of the prestigious Dutch Governmental Honor; The Prince Bernhard Award for exceptional achievements in music, he has also received the international Multi Media Award from the United Broadcasting Federation for outstanding contribution in music for film and television. Having studied music both at the Hilversum/Amsterdam Conservatory in the Netherlands and the Manhattan School of Music he earned his Ph.D. in Composition, Orchestration and Arranging, as well as several Master Degrees in Classical, Modern and Jazz Piano, he then completed his advanced studies in Film Scoring, production and Conducting.
